Promises to Keep (PTK) is a queer, furry, safe-for-work (16+) visual novel. Please be warned that while entirely safe-for-work, PTK does feature themes of religious & familial trauma, injury, mental illness, minor body horror, grief, and homophobia. Some scenes may not be suitable for individuals with epilepsy (but there are in-game warnings for these scenes). v0.10 is now available (Day 4 for everyone's route except Ollie's). This version has around 13 hours of content in total, featuring an original soundtrack of 25+ songs, 100+ beautifully drawn backgrounds and fully-illustrated CGs, and hundreds of unique character sprites. A promise is the greatest, most significant thing anyone can make, in a reality where nothing is permanent. They are guarantees we make to one another, knowing that guarantees are fruitless; their existence contradicts the fleeting, temporary nature of our universe. Yet, they live on in the face of this futility.
So, what happens when the promises you make to yourself go cold? When your promises to others are left empty?
PTK follows the journey of a post-college snow leopard after returning to his childhood home. After a year of wishful thinking, living in the footsteps of his past and the childhood promises he has yet to fulfill, he's convinced there's nothing more for him here. Then, disaster strikes.
Join him in a story of deep self-discovery, reunion, and light-hearted romance as he grows with a vibrant group of individuals brought together by unlikely circumstances.

just an amazing game 10/10 story i really hope i get to see this story to completion!
Just Loaded the Page and I think the Left one would be the Perfect Image Response
So we got idenity supression, religious trauma, family estrangement, and now likely PTSD. What's next for our group of lovable animals.
I really like where this is going. This time something was wrong with the download and I spent a night going through the story without skips. That turned out to better, since when I got to Artemis's day 4, it hit like a train.

Artemis's reactions, rage, fear, desperation, go through your soul, it's like you're In the same room, or even experiencing everything that poor blue jay is going through. Honestly, hats off to writers, for how just text and drawings can evoke deep emotions. Or its just me.
That rollercoaster of emotions on fourth day brought out a ton of character, and I really want to point out the dreams that snow leopard has about his friends. Such corny, maybe even cliche move and it all fits.
Looking forward to visit Theo's den again, can't imagine what Ollie will have to go through

I deleted the entire Game from All Folders, so that i basically have a clean install, so i can't accedentily skip. (With Epilepsie & Tremor i tend Press every Key on my Keyboard, trust me, it is annoying af XD)
If you want to, here is a simple Way on Windows for the Manual Download:
1. %appdata%/RenPy => There Should be a Folder called "PromisestoKeep" with a random Number, just delete it
2. Go to the Install Folder of your PTK Install, go into the Game Folder and just delete the save-Folder
Now you Should have a Clean Install on Manual Download
If you wan't to clean all data when you are using Itch: Do the same as the Manual one, and then you go to:
C:/Users/(xyz)/AppData/Roaming/RenPy/ => Delete the PromisestoKeep-Folder
xyz = There should be a itch-player folder, click that
If you want to know why there is this extra Folder: Itch basically creates a Virtual-Version of PTK and Executes it in the itch-player folder. This allowes for example that many people on you PC can run the same Game just with different Save-Files
On Android it is enough to just reinstall the app

Okay, i found this game while i was bored out of my mind one day, i think it was the update where hunter got his day 3 route released?
I'm leaving a comment because this recent update hits so close to home. I could relate to artemis being unsure of what their identity really is, as i was - to an extent in the same boat as him a few years ago. That was also during the time where me and my current boyfriend started talking to eachother and decided to take things seriously, the fights, the self-deprecation, the self-loathing..
It sent me right back to the times where me and my boyfriend had arguments because of me, and thinking back on it now - it shows how much i've changed and how much trust he put into me when i said that i'll "Work on myself" before i pulled off for a few months to - you guessed it - work on myself!!!
It's been 2 years or so since that happened, and we've been the happiest we've ever been being together. I'm also the happiest i've ever been with myself!
Getting that aside, what i'm really here for is to tell you lovely people who are working on this cute and wholesome VN - that it's a huge part of who i am now, the dialogues, the plots, the dynamics, all of it helped me find a steady path to walk on towards a better version of myself.
I thank all of you so much for giving great care and love for the game, and i hope it prospers in years to come <3

No, we are gonna get more updates (days of each character), first we need to get Artemis and Ollie´s day 4, after that we could get the day 5 of the others characters

I feel the strong urge to vent here. Ramble, speak my heart out... Just a little at least, and speak my mind about this masterpiece I just played/experienced and how it made me feel.
First of all, I needed to say, I am not a person that's been too into these topics and stuff in movies, games, or any sort of form of entertainment.
Which topics? Well, family trauma, mental illness, religion, and homosexuality as a whole, I have considered myself quite conservative... But, this time I loved it, I changed my view... Heck, I kinda felt myself quite confused about everything I know, I felt drawn to the characters in some way...
What does this mean? That these characters were written so perfectly, and made me feel different about them... In a way that's so far from the usual:
"Oh, damn, that's another character who has issues and all, yup... I have to sympathize with them! Oh, look, they are struggling, and things are going against them! OH NO!"
Instead, this made me really... REALLY intrigued about them, and made me sympathize with them, understand their struggles, and FEEL their emotions on a deeper level... (like a certain video games I played 8 years ago in November and last December...) (Shout out to my "RDR2" / "Dispatch" gang out there, love u all <3). In a way that almost made me cry or made me feel like I was somehow projecting myself in them... This also means that the story was written in a way that very few stories have in the past 6 to 8 years (Masterpiece IMO).
I know I can't really share this with anyone; family doesn't care about these things, I don't have friends, my brother doesn't share the same liking for these things I really love or like, like these games, or topics at all, and too god damn ashamed of sharing stuff like this with anyone besides random people on the internet.
But still, I want to say, I loved it deeply. More than anything I have experienced recently, I loved it!
The route I played was focused on Theo and probably won't replay, since this was my "big time", at least in the next 5 or 9 months. *If* I do happen to replay...
Why would I not replay? Seeing that damn last scene between Theo and the Protagonist nestled really close under the moonlight really made something in my stupid brain snap.

Let me break it down for you:
I felt sad, but whole, like when you're so excited about doing something you have had in your mind for a long time, the high you get when you're performing it, or achieving it, the adrenaline, the tiredness, the highs and lows, the joy, the feel of your heart beating hard and so fast... But also the emptiness when you did it, the void in your mind, brain, and heart, the lack of emotion for anything, the numbness... Of knowing that there isn't going to be another "Big time." Like the one you experienced, not another high... Not like that one.
And I hope I can get over these emotions, over these feelings, knowing that the high of experiencing the "Big time" of this game is gone for now that it's over...
I wish the creators the best with their projects. If they have new projects after this is done, or if they are planning them, it doesn't matter. I wish you all the best!

Just wanted to say that I LOVE the music here! I sometimes like to just leave the game open so I could listen to the music in the background. As a side note, are yall planning on adding a gallery for music? I would hope so!

So I'm still on the first day and I have something to say. Not a critic or anything just a comic note : the size difference between what is said about Hunter's size when we go into his room and see his bed and the size of the asset that doesn't make it justice one bit X)X)
Still a Rofi boio for life, but -- oh my gosh -- Hunter is such a danged sweetheart!! Seriously great work once again! I love this VN a heckin ton, and I'm so grateful to you all for continuing to work on it. In a world that can sometimes be really hectic and scary, it's nice to know I can feel safe in this story :3

V0.9 hast an issue on android, where trying to update results in an "app not installed" message. My usual way of resolving (uninstalling the old version and full reinstalling the new version) hasn't worked so far, so maybe it's something with the files?
Ok so freeing up storage did the trick (didn't know it was full again, that trifling thing) so, no issue anymore lol

On a serious note, his backstory had me sobbing. I have so much empathy for him. It's beautiful how he remained so compassionate and loving despite his upbringing.
